Here’s a quick thing that’s been annoying me for a while.  I’ve made a quick look in Firefox preferences for it before but in my haste was never able to quickly find the answer so I put up with it.  No longer I’m happy to say.

You’ve probably experienced this ONLY if you have Firefox saving your history.  If not, this won’t apply.  You visit a web site where you need to log in.  Click in the user name box and get a drop down list of every option you’ve ever entered into a form before.  It really is a minor thing, but if you utilize a password management software as I do it can be a bit annoying.

It is possible to delete them individually if you like this feature but only wish to remove those you don’t want to have as options.  When the list comes up, us the down arrow key to highlight the offending option, press SHIFT + DELETE and it’s gone.

Now if you really don’t want to see that list at all open the preferences (settings) window, select “Privacy & Security”, scroll down and find “History”.  Where is says “Firefox will”… select that drop down and chose “Use custom settings for history”.

Next simply un-check the “Remember search and form history” box and instantly that annoying options list is no longer there.

You’re welcome.
