Cone NebulaLook at THIS!

This is so remarkable, breathtaking, it's really hard to know what to say, or in this case, write.  This pic was taken by the Hubble telescope.

Beautiful!

The Hubble telescope?  Remeber that?  When it was first launched, and shortly after had some serious lens problems that required an expensive trip into space to repair, you couldn't turn on the nightly news and not hear about it.  Today it's all but forgotten.  Not hardly, it's still there.  Watching.  Recording.

This photo, and many more equally stunning photos, can be found at the HubbleSite.  It's the official web site for the Hubble telescope.  Let me tell you, this is a really nice site.  Simple, yet classy.  Here you'll find a wealth of information on the Hubble.  In fact you may want to set aside a chunk of time before deciding to explore the site as it will be hard to stop digging through it.  There's info on the scope itself, how it works.  There's the latest news, what they're doing with it.  There's a section on all of the new discoveries wrought by this technological marvel.  And what's especially fascinating is the gallery.  All of those photos!  Each one with links for various size and quality images from small, for use on a web site, to images you can use as a computer desktop, to print quality images.  Amazing.  Who says we get nothing out of the space program?  Even if you don't count the nifty technology we all use daily (yes, your computer is a direct result of the space race), these thought provoking photos, made freely available to us, are plenty.

Oh, this shot of the Cone Nebula?  It can be seen in all it's splendor here.

Enjoy!
